Table Names Instead of Numbers

Table Names Instead of Numbers

For those of you naming your tables instead of numbering them, how are you planning on displaying the name on the tables? For the escort card, are you just writing out the name?

Liz, any luck with the small photos?

I am naming my tables. The name will be printed up on nice paper from my computer and will be desplayed at each table by a silver metal stand that my reception site provides. As far as the place card for each guest, I will be writting out the table name on the card. Sort of like this ' Mr. Joe & Guest at Table : Turtle Doves ' Have fun with it

Thanks Anne.

We are going to name our tables after NYC landmarks/neigborhoods and were thinking of using pictures on the tables. Is anyone using pictures on the tables, or just writing out the names?

I have a beach themed wedding. I am naming my tables after Long Island beaches. I had the names printed on card stock in a nice font (5X7) and I am putting them on the tables using pewter seashell placecard holders.

Some poeple use picture frame easels which is a good idea too!! You can buy them or paint them white.

I haven't decided if I'm going to name tables after different artist or just to different art works. This is just something that I am toying with- not sure yet.

Just curious....I had thought about doing table names instead of numbers for the tables, my matre d had brought up the point that if you do names - how will the guests easily find their seats? they'll have to read each table name in order to find theirs. Are you including #'s as well?

I think this is a great idea (due to time constraints and the possible issue above we decided to just leave them as numbers)

februarybride - Im only having 10 tables... If they look at one table and its not the name they only have 9 more to choose from, and so on.

february ... I don't think is any easier to find your number than a name! Just make sure that they're clearly displayed .... lots of examples out there ... try searching. We had names & just let our guests wander. It also promotes mingling. Plus guests usually know who they're sitting with, so as soon as a group starts to form at a table, its easy to find where you are.

But, if you're having a large wedding, & you still feel like your guests need help, then the wait staff could be stationed at the door & around the room to help as needed.

All in all, its not that hard for the guests. The wait staff, however, may need a number so as not to drive the kitchen crazy. They may place a number on each table as well just for that purpose. They did it at mine. It worked very nicely!

good luck!

Thanks for all your feedback.

Christmasbride, I am not sure if I understood, did you have numbers on the tables for the waitstaff as well? If so, where did they put the numbers?

What size frames did you all use, 5x7?
