table seating

This is the most impossible part of wedding planning!!!!! How is that I have tables of 13 and 14 people when my hall says they can only fit up to 12 max at a table!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! What in the world am I going to do????? I have no clue how to split up these these tables!

It's my hardest part too! I keep getting one extra person at each table

Re: table seating

simply have tables of 8-10. it makes it easier...and no table will look 'bare' and in all honesty, several smaller tables look better than fewer full tables. you fill up the room with tables and it makes your party look bigger. AND your guests will have more room....it's aggravating to have limited arm/leg room at a wedding...so in all honesty, when it was my turn to do it, i made all attempts to keep my table numbers small enough to provide lots of room for the guests!

It must be something about the day. I was just working on table seating as well. I think I am almost done though. I am doing mostly tables of 10 but there are a few 8s an 9s in there too! Good luck!

that is our plan... only 10 per table although 12 can fit.

I'm with you...I just attempted this and my mother and sister changed the whole thing. Still stumped with where to put a few guests. There really is no easy way and people can always get up and mingle....nuff said.

That is exactly what I said. People aren't going to sit the entire time. I also mixed up family tables. We aren't doing sides of the room.

Re: table seating

I was allowed only two tables of 12. All the rest were a max of 10. To do my seating I started in alphabetical order with the first person that RSVP'd yes, and then under his/her name wroted down everyone that should be seated at that table. In my case, that first table was easy b/c it was the BP. I then continued down my list. When I was done, I had a few tables with only 3 or 4 people, so I stuck those together, and some random couples that don't know anyone else at the wedding besides me or the groom, (or possibly one other person) and a table of 16. To eliminate the table of 16 I removed all the kids from their tables and stuck them together at one table. That solved that problem. Then for the random people, I stuck one couple at the table with all of FH's co-workers b/c he used to work with this couple, so they all had something in common (working w/ FH even though not at the same job). I stuck another random couple at the BP table since besides FH they only know one couple (half of which is in the BP), and the third random couple I put at a table of 5.

It all works out in the end.

So I think it's officially done...or at least I hope it is!
