what would you do if your fiance has a smaller family to begin with and then you find out that only 1/3 of his family plans on attending the shower and wedding. I dont want to split up my family, but the room will look terrible w/ all of our tables and none of his....
i feel bad for him that his side is saying no - mostly selfish i presume

Re: Tables for his side
the same thing will most likely happen to me, but the opposite. I have very little family and most are in NJ and probably won't come to my wedding being that it is a Sunday. So I am not going to put family on either side of the dance floor, I am going to stagger it.

Re: Tables for his side
My family is bigger and more people are coming from my side so what we decided to do was mix them in his parents will sit at the table with my parents, his aunts with my sunts in this way guests outside of family will not know.
Also in the church we are not doing a bride side or groom side seating

Re: Tables for his side
We're not doing 'sides' because FH has more family on his side. As far as the church, no sides either. Everyone will be mixed together. I think its better this way... our familes can get to know one another!!

We're not doing sides either fh comes from a teeney tiny family. I on the other hand have a large family. I'm on of six my parents are each one of 5. FH is an only child and his father is the only one who has any siblings still living. So as you can imagine sides would be out of the question

Re: Tables for his side
I was just thinking about that today, b/c of my famiyll situation I wont be setting up his/her sides. Since the family that I do keep in contact with knows FH's family well (they came to BBQ's, parties etc) so they can sit with his family and co-minlge and all goes well-

Same thing here, we only have about 1/3 of the guest list-we are just going to mix tables...I think all or most of the friends will be on one side and the older onthe other-maybe

My sister's husband's family was a lot smaller at their wedding- she just put their friends at his tables.
