i just thought i would post this to let you know if you weren't aware...
The place I am having my wedding doesn't anyway but many places do because i have been to many............. tip cups on the bar
this so tacky especially since the people having the wedding tips the bartenders after the affair
it makes guests uncomfortable.... why should people carry money to a wedding

Re: TACKY
I did not chose to have my wedding at John ANthony's because the banquet manager told me that there was no way they would remove the tip cups!!

But don't people normally tip a bartender at a resturant/bar, etc.

Re: TACKY
I agree that a tip cup is tacky. I worked for years on a charter boat and we did a lot of weddings and never had a tip cup - but we always got tips away way

Re: TACKY
Of course, - and I usually tip at weddings as well, but sometimes there is a tip cup prominently displayed on the bar. - (I'm talking a BIG thing-)

Didn't know this...
I was SHOCKED at a wedding I went to there and actually said something to the bartender. I asked 'Did the Bride and Groom allow this?' They simply shrugged their shoulders and pretended like it was no big deal.
Good for you that you did not book there because of that. If a banquet manager told me that I would do the same...

Re: TACKY
I just think it is something to remember... why make your guests feel uncomfortable. they shouldn't have to tip because you will at the end
they don't needto have a tip cup on the bar
i still tip sometime in the night but i don't always have my wallet at a wedding
and.... yes i always tip at a restaurant or bar (i was a bartender so i tip well) but at a wedding....PLAIN TACKY i don't want my guests to feel they need to have to take out their wallet that is cheesy they are there to have a good time all expenses paid

Re: TACKY
Tip cups suggest people have to tip. I have always felt better laying tips on the bar for good service. Sometimes they'll be no tip because they think they deserve one.

I had my bat mitzvah there a long time ago but my dad just said we took the tip cup off of the bar... he is against it so i would check that out pretty stupid of them dont you think... to lose thousands of $$$ for a tip cup
