Tacky? (repost from BHB)

Tacky? (repost from BHB)

A girl I know had a destination wedding a few months ago. She had told us before they left that they would be having a reception in July to celebrate with everyone...which I think is normal...

The problem is...I got an invitation to a shower for next month...I think that is kind of tacky...I mean, if she was going to have a shower shouldn't she have done it before she got married?

Opinions?

thats funny, i was thinking the same thing last night. My FBIL eloped last month and I was wondering if they would have a shower for his wife.

I think it is kind of strange to have a shower, JMO.

I think it would have been better to have it before hand, but it seems as if she is doing her official celebrating based on her reception in the states.

she probably just did not realize that she would miss having one, or there was not enough time to have one. Honestly, I am not sure anyone knows why they have one, but to have fun.

Mine is actually no gifts and the night before the wedding, just because I want to play the games!

Honestly, I don't think it is tacky at all. Someone who loves her is throwing her the shower and wants to make her feel special and not miss out on some of the traditional festivites that happen for a bride.

You girls make a lot of good points...I can see that side of it as well...and I do truly like this girl...she is very sweet.

I just thought it was a bit wierd....but I get a better feeling about it from shamrock's post...
