Tahiti for a poor swimmer?

ok, So we're really close to finally booking our honeymoon to tahiti.
I have 1 concern-- i'm not a very strong swimmer & there are so many water activites there. Can anyone else relate?

I think you'll be fine. The water is so shallow for so long that you can walk forever without getting your hair wet. You can do a jeep safari on Tahiti, Moorea or Bora Bora. Even some of the water activities don't require that you know how to swim, like the helmet div/aqua safari. If you want to go snorkeling, you can get an inflatable vest to wear.

thanks- that makes me feel better. I just didn't want to take away from FH's fun b/c I can't swim that well.

I've never been there so I'm probbaly not much of a help... but in all the pictures I've seen the water looks really calm...which is perfect for someone who's not a strong swimmer.

I'm not a good swimmer either but I've been told by many people that the water in the lagoon is calm like a lake, no waves, and most people have rafts with them and our hotel, the Intercontinental Thalasso has life jackets in the bungalows. I've been to other islands in the South Pacific and it was like this too, really easy to swim around and the reef keeps the water calm and pretty shallow in alot of places.

best,

When I was in Tahiti and Her Islands, I wore a life vest everywhere I snorkeled. I'm sure that I looked funny but, at least, I felt safe and when I was tired.. I stayed above water and didn't need to panic if the water entered my mouth piece.

I'm going back and will do the same.

Have fun and don't worry... you'll be just fine.
