Re: tahiti or hawaii
Hi Karen! I went to Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora (almost the exact hotels as CaMacho!) and loved it. I picked Tahiti over Hawaii because I prefer the lagoons. Shallow, calm water! We met a lot of other couples who had been to Hawaii, and told us that Tahiti is less touristy and has a wilder feel to it. May to October is the busy season, but I couldn't tell. It was very quiet, not crowded at all. The down side to that is that there is ZERO nightlife in Tahiti. If you are looking to go to clubs or even bars at all, Tahiti is not the place for you.
Also, we are newly certified scuba divers and were told that the diving doesn't get any easier than Tahiti.
have not been to either....but we figured this is 'THE' vacation....so Tahiti! We can always do hawaii another time!

I just got back this week and we loved Hawaii. We went to Kauai, Oahu and Maui. It was the best 2weeks. We were treated great everywhere, they really cater to honeymooners. It truly was paradise, each island had something different to offer. I'm sure you would not disappointed with either choice

I was in the same boat as you...always had my heart set on Hawaii until I saw a friend's Tahiti HM pics and I was blown away and realized that's what a HM is all about. You can do Hawaii at any other point in your life. This is your HM...should be amazing and the trip of a lifetime....TAHITI!!! Go for it.
You can spend as little or as much as you like....I spent on the higher end but I know I could have spent several thousand less and still had an amazing Tahitian HM!

Re: tahiti or hawaii
you know, i was dead set on Tahiti, then i said, well i could have a 2 week hm in Hawaii or elsewhere for the same price, as opposed to going to tahiti for 8 days and fainting over meal prices- but i think i found a way to get my excotic hm - i am currently looking into a cruise to tahiti. Its a 10/12 day cruise and it stops at a bunch of islands in FP- the upside is that all your meals are included and you get to see more than one island! Princess cruise has a 12 day itinerary - it stays in Bora bora overnight,so i may look into staying in an overwater bungalow for the night as an additional treat.- For a balcony suite for two people in july costs, $4,400!!!! You can have your dream hm for half the cost!I got the idea from Summerbride! If interested, Princess cruise also has a tahiti hawaii cruise!- the best of both worlds! I dont want to do it b/c it leaves like 3 weeks after my wedding.... look into it!
good luck!!
