Tahiti question...actually I need a lot of help..lol

Ok hi...I hardly ever write on the board...but I should and I'm sorry...forgive me, lol.

Anways I was hoping to get some input. My fiance and I really really really really really want to go to Tahiti. We were looking into going for 10 nights. Everytime I do a quote on the computer it is like almost $10,000!!! That is wrong right? Or is that normal!? We want to go to Moreo and Bora Bora. And we really want to stay in a bungaloe on the water. So what I am asking is...is it cheaper then that? If it isn't...is it worth it??? We want to have the time of our life! I'm sure you know what I mean...but we don't want to stay in a typical hotel. Something Tropical and Romantic. OK I will shut up now...haha. Can you guys help me out? Thanks!

I recently had girls send me quotes and they were all around that price... Kinda crazy, but if you think about it, you can go on ton of cruises for that price...

I myself always wanted to go there so I would prob pay the price just to go...

Also, I looked into Princess cruises (I know they do some to Hawaii/Tahiti) and the price isnt all that bad for what you are getting... but I never factored the airfare into it so I have no idea if its truely good or not!

Good luck on the search

Tahiti is def in the $10k range..
My coworker went to St Lucia for her HM & loved it. They stayed at an all-inclusive called Le Sport... are you ready for the best part?
As part of your all inclusive package, you & your FH get a free spa treatment a day!! I just thought that sounded amazing & wanted to share....

dont fret! and dont give up on tahiti just yet.
you can find something for $8,000.
i will fm you some info tomorrow when i am at work. in my case, we are spending about 10,000 but that is b/c we are going to Tahaaa for 3 nights.
My fi booked the hm as a surprise
anyhow, prior to him booking the hm, i had done my own research and i came across an online travel agent that always seemed to be the lowest price and he would play around with the itinerary to keep meeting my needs...

i'll get back to you tomorrow on contact info.

I found a website the other day that prices out a honeymoon package for you based on a price-range you choose from the drop down menu... I selected '4,000 - 4,999' for 9 nights and it put together a whole package for me (including airfare). Def worth checking out!

Girls you are amazing! First off thanks so much for getting some information together for me about Tahiti. Second that website is just awesome! Your right...I think we are going to do 9 nights (Exclude the 1 night from Tahiti and just do Moorea and Bora Bora). Looks like it would run us about $4300 a pp. I will let you know when the Travel agent calls us from that site (I wrote an email to them).

I think I really want to go there and splurge a little on us. Don't you think so? haha (I think I'm trying to convince myself to do it...lol)

French Polynesia is truly amazing... so, don't give up on it. I honeymooned and had my First Anniversary trip both in French Polynesia. I've been to Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora (2x), Tikehau, and Manihi. I would keep going back until I have a kid.. LOL!

If you would like to go to Moorea and Bora Bora, then you could split up the nights between Over Water Bungalow and either Beach Bungalow or Garden Bungalow... to help stay within budget.

I suggested this because if you want to do several full-day excursions (ie: Shark & Ray Feeding with Motu Picnic) then, you are not really using the OWB to the full extent. Therefore, if you are not going to snorkel during the day by your own OWB, then you wouldn't need to stay in an OWB (as a suggestion to help budget).

Also, high, mid, and low seasons offer various promotions that can help you save, too. You could go OWB all the way and stay under your budget if you go during mid or low season (something to consider, too.)

Oh.. you will need budgets for excursions and meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner could cost a lot depending where & what you eat). Try asking your travel agent(s) to find you resorts that offer complimentary half-board (breakfast & dinner). Then, you could bring some snacks for lunch.

These are just suggestions to help you stay within your budget.

Hope this helps and good luck.

BTW, my TA has really, really good prices and with the extensive research, I booked with her both times. Let me know if you would like to shop around and I will FM you.

Cheers,
O'Nay

Thanks soo much ONay! I think we will def. do that because it seems like those OWB are freaking expensive...so maybe we will do that on one island and the other a beach one or whatever. You must have loved Tahiti! Do you happen to have any pictures? I would love to see them! Anyway...thanks again!

I agree don't give up on your honeymoon their!! Originally we booked our honeymoon to Mexico and we would up cancelling it and booking our trip to Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora because I just could not get it off my brain!

Also, Liberty Travel will price match.....so you can always shop it around and bring the quote to them and see if they can match!

Just FYI - you can't exclude one night from Tahiti...you have to stay there for 1st night b/c all flights from the US get there in the middle of the night and there are no inter island transfers at that time...that is why you will notice that everyone spends their first night in Tahiti.

Also yes - $10k is def. the normal range....that sounds right but you can play around to go for cheaper. Like O'Nay said - you can stay in garden rooms for more nights to bring down the price.
I LOVED Intercontinental Thalasso on Bora Bora - most amazing hotel I have ever stayed in.

Definitely splurge on yourselves and do this trip...it is the trip of a lifetime....it's your honeymoon and you deserve the best! Enjoy and feel free to FM me with any questions!
We did 2 full weeks....1 night Tahiti, 4 nights Moorea, 5 nights Bora Bora and 3 nights Tahaa! It was the most amazing trip ever!!!

O'Nay - I can't wait to hear about your Anniversary trip...I'm so interested in hearing what you thought about Tikehau and Manihi. Also were you able to do your Anniv. trip for cheaper than your Honeymoon cost?

A cruise does not even slightly compare to a Tahitian honeymoon....trust me it is worth $10k or more! It's amazing....a cruise doesn't hold a candle to Tahiti - you really cannot compare the 2.

Re: Tahiti question...actually I need a lot of help..lol

You girls are absolutely right! I talked to FH and he thinks we should do it too. I was also talking to my co-workers and they agreed. They said 'What a way to begin your life together'..I think so. Who knows when the next time we would get to go on a trip together...and not like that one. So FH and I are saving a bucks and our goal is to have it set and planned by the end of this summer.

Ooo and I didn't know about Liberty Travel...I mean how they might match a quote. I'm going to be looking around for the best price...:) Any ladies have pictures from their trip to Tahiti? I would love to see...thanks :)

Hi KandE917..

Thank you for your tip on how to paste pictures in reviews! Also, thanks to waterspout4
for the info, too. It was such a nice way to write reviews with pics.

BTW.. my second trip came out slightly cheaper because of many reasons: sale on international airfare, one less island, complimentary half-board, etc.

Actually, I went to Tikehau last time and Manihi this time... although, they're both atolls and both are beatiful but, they're different...
