Take my mother, PLEASE!

Take my mother, PLEASE!

Yesterday my MOH calls me to ask me how much control I want my mother to have over my shower. Just a little background info: I have 5 girls in my BP - I have thrown 3 of these girls bridal showers before, and planned one for a 4th girl. These girls work very well together, they know what they need to do and have the means to get it done. I explained to my mother that she should sit back, relax and just get updates from the MOH but let them handle the bulk of the work involved in my shower, especially because they're handling the bulk of the cost. My mom likes to do things her way - loves to run the show and boss everyone around.

Yesterday I found out that my mother booked the restaurant without a final okay from the girls, and got a higher price than my MOH could have gotten. She also wants to be the RSVP person on the invitations so that in case FILs try to bring more people than are invited she can be the *bully* and tell them not to. (thats almost a direct quote from MOH) My MOH rightly thinks that she should be the RSVP contact instead, and if any problems arise (which probably won't), she'll have FH deal with it - as it should be.

My friends are not accustomed to dealing with someone as headstrong and irrational as my mother can be - I feel so bad for them and want to step in and get control of the situation for them so my mom doesn't push them around but MOH told me not to, that she and another BM were going to talk to my mom this week. I'm so stressed, I don't know what to do!

I am so sorry that your mom is being like this. But if the BP is incurring most of the cost then she ahas very little say. Are you close with her can you speak to her at all?

Let the BP work it out with your mom, you should not have to wrory about these things. It will all work out in the end, so there is no reason you need to know the details geting up the the shower.

I agree, you really shouldn't have to be stressed about it, you're not throwing one for yourself. I think that the BP should talk to your mother and let them deal with it.

Good luck!
