Take Poll Please !! What would you consider is too much $$ spent on Flowers for the wedding?

I know it depends on the budget that the person might have but I'm just trying to get an idea as to what others think.

I'm probably in the minority here - but if i could i would spend an insane amount of money on the flowers - I'm spending $5800 now for flowers - I wish i could have spent at least $10K

Yeah..i'm in the 'I WISH i could have spent more than 3K on flowers' but we're spending around $1600.

I think it depends entirely on the space. Even if we had all the money in the world, the place we are having the wedding wouldn't need more than maybe 5K ...TOPS. And that would mean flowers EVERYWHERE!

not that there is anything wrong with that!

I'm spending $1500. I would have gone as much at $3000.00.....they do die so I wasn't going crazy on them.

I'm spending @$1800. I thought that seemed very reasonable.

I specifically chose a location with a lot of architectural interest and views so I feel a lot of frilly flowers would not add so much as detract. That said, we are spending, by all estimates quite a bit on flowers for the various rooms. I don't mean to seem vague but we are just starting the floral planning process and I don't know what the numbers will be.

id go about 3000......if you are having flower cp---they cost alot

I wish we could have spent more but we wouldn't go over $3500.

I think it's ridiculous to spend a lot of money on flowers because they can die so quickly. That being said, my original flower budget was around $5000 because as much as I hate spending the money on them, I think they really add a lot to the wedding. I'm hoping to cut it down to $4000, which shouldn't be hard with only 12 tables and 3 BMs but my florist is a 'required vendor' at my hall, so I think their prices are a little inflated.

It's hard for me to answer this. I think the alot has to be considered when looking at the total price. Mine was over $5000 but I had 22 tables, plus the flowers for the bridal party, parents, grandmothers, readers, Church flowers, pew bows, etc... So for me it easily went over that. But I also did go crazy on flowers picking high centerpieces, stands, etc.. But I love flowers and it helped create the look I wanted.

I didn't have a budget until I started looking for a florist. I looked at 6 different ones and ended up with Atlantic. They gave me the best price and were top notch. I had 12 tables high rose CPs, and all the other stuff including a chuppah. I think the same set up today (I got married 6 years ago) would be about $3000. I paid $2200 then.

Yeah I know what you are saying. If it were up to DH we wouldn't even get flowers. That was the one thing he told me not to go crazy on. I tried not too, but all the flowers I love of course are the expensive ones. Can you go to a few florists and get quotes for the things you like - that may give you a general range and then you can work from there?

Your CP's were amazing.
Your Husband and my FH have the same thoughts. I actually have gone to a few florists and have gotten quotes and when I tell FH, he keeps telling me that we should try to spend less on flowers. I agree with him in the sense that it is only one day and flowers do not last a long time but the reception room is big and I think low CP will really not do the effect that I want. I personally do not like greenery in the CP's. I find a lot of florists fill their CP's with that. I really think I went into the wrong business.

I love flowers, so when we were doing the budget this was very important to me. I have friends who had beautiful weddings and didn't do much with flowers. I knew I wanted a lot of flowers, so we budgeted as such. I am very excited about the flowers.
