I know some people have strong opinions, but I don't know if I 100% believe the statistics... I would NOT want the government to Mandate if I take his last name or not!

That's their big thing; they grab onto some statistic and roll from there.
Seriously, the paper is full of pie charts and graphs. It's useless.

That's crazy - I happen to be taking FH last name by choice....I think it is wrong to mandate it...women should have the option of changing their last names by choice, not force......

I am taking my FH last name as well... I currently have a hyphenated late name and hate it! I can't wait to stop writing it..
I do think it is silly to mandate it as well.. in some county it is trandition to take both.

I am hyphenating my last name because i love my name and my initials. FH totally understands. Plus, I would feel like I would lose my identity professionally and its soo annoying to get everything changed.
That mandate thing is just stupid, but interesting that its more conservatives (supposedly) who favor it.

Um I'm a conservative but I'm not in favor of the govermnt telling what I can and can not do. I think its more traditionalists that think that. A true conservative doesn't want the govt to mandate their lives

When I read stats like this, I just roll my eyes. No one surveyed ME, so how can they say '70% of Americans'
Statistics are very skewed sometimes.
However, just to add anyway: If the gov ever mandated that, I would be pi$$ed. But they won't do that.

I am not taking FH's name.
I wouldn't be surprised if the government made another mandate, but I can't really even believe this. Why would something as silly and unimportant as brides changing thier last name even be on the scope for a government official? I think they have bigger fish to fry.
