I have had acrylic nails on for about 2 years, and I want to take them off. What is the best way?? Should I just go to my nail salon and have them removed, or can I do it myself??

Re: Taking off nails......
You can do it yourself by soaking your nails in nail polish remover...they hurt when you do it at the salon sometimes!

you can soak them off on your own, but the nail salon may be easier for them to do it!
I think they just use nail polish remover

When I had to take mine off they told me to go to sally's and get pure acetone-- right off!-- just make sure you use something glass that you can throw away!
When I tried regular nail polish it took a while!

Re: Taking off nails......
DEFINATELY SOAK THEM
Buy pure acetone & a cheap bowl (not plastic or metal) fill the bowl & put your hands in . Cover the bowl with a towel. Change the acetone every 45 minutes, if it takes that long.
If you want, buy a cheap nail file and 'scrub' some of the weaker acrylic off while they are wet.

BTW: make sure you have some kind of strengthener for your natural nails underneath & polish them immediately. sally hansen makes a really great line of strengthening polishes. I use the age correction & then I top coat with Diamond Hard.. also sally hansen.
