talk me down - it's a good thing I called re: BM dresses

talk me down - it's a good thing I called re: BM dresses

My cousin's daughter is in the wedding -- she is currently in college in Alfred. She went and had her measurements taken and when she went to call them in, they said it would be easier for her mom to bring them in with the check instead of her phoning them in -- since her mom was bringing the check there anyway. Cousin's daugher emailed her mom the information.

HER MOM NEVER PUT IN THE ORDER.

I just called her and was as calm as could be... and now she is home with her other child (only 8 years old) who is REALLY sick and probably cannot go today, unless her husband gets home from work on time.

I work in the city and it's doubtful I'll get home in time to run over, but now I have to at least try. Otherwise, the order won't go in until the weekend. My cousin acknowledged that it was all her fault... but I still want to SCREAM.

My wedding is less than 6 months away. Will these dresses even come on time now?!?!?!?!? They really need to -- I have 3 girls out of state. I have to ship them their dresses for alterations when the dresses come in! I better have time to do that... and time for everyone to get the dresses altered!

UPDATE: My cousin left me a voicemail (during the 5 minutes I happened to not be in my office) saying her husband would drop off the measurements / check on his way home from work.

Whew! I feel better.

I feel best that I was calm and didn't get annoyed with my cousin over the phone... I just came here to vent instead.

Can you or your cousin call the order in???

I'm sure, under the circumstances, the dress will be there in time.

You should be ok. Just let the bridal place know that it's a bit of a rush.

hang in there!

Don't worry I'm sure if you get it in by the weekend it will arrive on time. Have you called the salon? What did they say??

No, that's the problem. Lillette's only takes cash or checks - no credit cards. If they did, my cousin's daughter would have just phoned in her measurements a few weeks ago...

I'm going to have to try to leave work early tonight to do it myself if she can't get there.

i'm confused - was your cousin's mom supposed to put the order in for all of your girls, or just your cousin?

either way every wedding I've been in we've had the dresses in 8-12 weeks tops so don't worry too much - i'm sure it will work out fine!

Don't worry, you'll be fine!!!!!!!!!!!!! The dresses should only take about 2-3 months to come in and then the girls will still have plenty of time for their alterations.

Worst comes to worse you can have the store put a rush on them, you have to pay more for that tho and I really don't think it's necessary but it is an option.

No, just the one. However, all dresses need to come from the same dye lot. So, the order for ALL dresses cannot be made until ALL orders are in. We're now just waiting for ONE.

maybe have her call in the measurements and have her use her credit card or Debit card to place this order.

Never mind! Sorry! I'm sure it will work out. Tell them to put it in on a Rush order. GL!

See my post above. That's not an option.

How long did the shop say it would take for the dreses to come in? Mine said it would take 3 months and they came in a few weeks early.

That really stinks and i see why you'd be mad! i think you should be fine, though, if you get them in by the weekend. just make sure your girls out of state have a good seamstress lined up so they can get alterations done right away. it will all work out!!

wow I didn't realize Lillette's only takes cash or check, that stinks!!!

If its any consolation, when we ordered the Levkoff BM dresses over the weekend, Phyllis at B.E. told me that they currently show the dresses coming in by the end of May- and I just ordered them on Sunday. I think you will be ok At least Bill Levkoff is so popular they might keep a good amount of stock.

whew! so glad everything worked out. I just ordered my BM dresses last week after dealing with two irresponsible bm's. One took two weeks to send in her check..she lives out of state and three weeks for another BM to get measured. I was by far the most stressful thing I had to deal with so far.

I'm glad it worked out, even if you had to wait until the weekend to have the dresses ordered, you should be fine. I ordered mine 6 months in advance and I got them in about 2 months.

My best friend is getting married 8/3/07 but they haven't placed the order for her dresses yet - we are waiting on one girl to get measured.

You are not alone! The place is telling her she'll still be ok in terms of timing.

Thanks - that makes me feel better!

I just don't want everyone to have to rush to get the dresses altered, etc... especially when my FSILs live out of state!
