I started tanning against my own better judgement, it is something I normally do not do. but I am actually starting to like the color of my skin, I just hope I do not ruin my skin. I just dont want to look to pale in my gown. do any of you tan at the salon?

Re: tanning
I just started going for the wedding. I haven't been in a really long time to a tanning salon. I'll go just until the wedding & do the 8-min standup. Tanning is not good for you- but if you just do it for the wedding and don't overdue it, I'm sure it will be OK....

I'm worried about this too and I don't want a real tan because i won't look like myself. But I think I definitely want to look sunkissed -- maybe I can get this effect with make-up, like a bronzer?

Re: tanning
I started tanning twice a week about 3 weeks ago and now i'm going once a week. I started out doing 6 minutes in the stand up. Then increased it by a minute each time, but stopped at 10 minutes. It looks really natural!

i like the bed ive used in combination with the lotion i use, looks more natural. I am going to go a few times before the wedding, and hoping i get some color when im in vegas 2 weeks before the wedding so it will be both half fake and half real tan i dont want to be TOO tanned though so im trying to figure out how many times to go before, the bed i use gets you pretty tanned, but its a bronzer so dont get orange or anything hahaha nor red

I'm going to start next week, probably 2 times a week. As long as you don't over do it you'll be fine!

YES BUT please be careful. I used it for a week and yes got nice color but after a week i noticed that when i would get out of the shower and dry myself off SO much would come off on the towel and i mean alot. Infact i started testing it out after that and if you rub the towel on your skin the color came off, so bc with your dress

Re: tanning
i was thinking about this too. i have used the jergens before and i usually use tan towels. they work pretty well and give you a nice color. only thing is at times they tend to rub off on towels, clothes, etc. i'm afraid of this happening on my dress. i mean, it would be on the inside of the dress and i don't think anyone would see, but just the same I don't want anything on my dress. i've been tanning before, but i'm so pale that I think it's even more dangerous for me.
I was thinking about that tanning place people have talked about in great neck. does anyone have experience there? does that tan rub off like the other products?? TIA!

Re: tanning
I'm starting this week. Like some of the others, I don't want to look too different, just sun-kissed. I think it really makes a difference. I'll probably be going a couple times a week for a month before the wed. I've tanned before, just for a couple of years, but I usually only go right before summer so I don't look so pasty in summer clothes. haha I don't think it will too bad for your skin if you do it just a little. Now if you tan everyday, that's a different story!

Re: tanning
I used to work at a tanning salon many years ago. There was this bed called the ultra bronze. It doesn't have any UVB rays so it doesn't burn the skin and gives you a beautiful 'glow'. I don't know where you could find one now, the place I worked at in Queens has since closed. BUT a word of advice.....I tanned quite a bit since I got to tan for free. I did devlop the beginnings of skin cancer. Thankfully I found it early enough and it was successfully treated. From what I remember, one of the worst machines you could use is the stand up b/c of the high level of UVB rays. I've just come to accept that pale is beautiful. Just a little heads up for you ladies! Safe tanning.
