Tanning

Tanning

I went tanning on Sunday for only 6 minutes. I am fair and had never been to a tanning salon. I thought I made it clear that I did not want to burn. Luckily I was so nervous about burning that I went in without closing the the top. I ended up burning my whole lower back, the back of my knees and the back of my calves. I am happy that my front did not burn as well. I have since been so itchy, an itch that is much more extreme than any natural sunburn. I was told to go every other day, but haven't gone back because I'm still pink and itchy. I will go on Friday if I am better, but I am so nervous about burning my front side. I do not want an itchy chest! I'm hoping maybe taking it down to 3 minutes will be okay. Any other fair tanners to advise me on how long to go for?

If you dont normally tan in the summer with hte regular sun than you will not tan in a tanning bed, you will always burn. HTH!

Make sure you go in the beds with no burning rays, only browning rays tell them. They are more expensive, but better results esp. for fair people.

I'm incredibly fair too... I do tan in the sun but it takes A LOT of patience - as well as it does in tanning beds.

I used to have to tan a lot because I was in pageants - this was before the days of natural looking spray tan.

I usually start off with about 5 min (considering they started you at 6 I would recommend you def go down to 3-4 if you burned - unless of course you just never tan naturally)

I will go every day or every other day depending on my level of comfort and increase the time by 1 min every other time until I'm at full throttle.

I tend to get really itchy from the beds anyway (even when I'm not burned) I asked the attendant about this once and she said it helps to be hydrated.

seriously . I would try the spray tan if you just don't want to look pale . I just did it for the first time and it looks SOOO natural . of course it will fade faster but you don't have to put your skin through anything. . I totally doubted it but am so glad I tried it !

Couldn't have said it any better! I'm also extremely fair and a redhead to boot and this method works for me too!

I also get the monthly packages that way I'm not paying per minute, then if I asked to go in for 7min but feel like I may be burning after 5min I don't feel like I'm throwing money away if I get out early.

I am fair too but I use the Diamond Bed at Beach Bum and it works really well. I usually do 12 minutes at a time and I don't burn.

HTH!

I would follow the advice of the other girls with fair skin (myself included). Tanning is not good for anyone, least of all people with skin like that. Try the self tanners or spray on stuff.

what i do is i go for about 5 min for 3 sessions and then i increase by 1 extra minute after that...once i get to 10 min i stick to going 2 times a week....also get a very good moisturizer thats what helps me with the itch

i just wanted to add that you shouldnt go every other day maybe 2-3 times a week
