How long before your wedding did you start tanning? (if you did or plan to). Also, how many times a week did you go?

Re: Tanning question
I began tanning a month before. At first I went like 2 times a week, then as I got closer it went to every other day. It depends on your skin though. I had to go so much because my skin is fair and it fades quickly...

Re: Tanning question
I'm thinking of starting now so I have time in case I burn or don't get enough, at least I'll have more time to figure out what the right schedule is and not run out of time.
Also thinking I may want to schedule a new makeup trial with tanned skin - may need to adjust colors.

Re: Tanning question
Has anyone tried the spray on tan from Hollywood tans? Or the ones they offer in spas?? I am wondering how that looks and works..I am fairly pale and hate to lie in the sun, even a sun bed..

Re: Tanning question
I tried one of those spray tans, and hated it. It did not last at all. And I smelled like rusted metal. If I try it again, I will go to those places that apply the lotion on by hand, not the spray mechanism.
Are the rest of you using tanning beds? Is that safe?

Re: Tanning question
I was thinking of doing Mystic Tan, too. I burn very easily, and I'm afraid to go tanning. I have tan lines from the summer, though, and I'd like to get rid of them!
Sorry to hear some of you had a bad experience with it!

Re: Tanning question
i just read an article about the spray tan and they said it is worse for you than actually tanning because you are inhaling the fumes.

Re: Tanning question
Thanks for the feedback on the spray on tans.. Anyone use the one that they put on you in a spa. I know that Maximus in the source mall does it.. I wanted to try it but I don't want to waste $80 plus on a bad mistake.

Re: Tanning question
I tried the spray on tans and i thought it was horrible and a waste of money. I looked more orange than tan and it started to fade very quick
I am very fair so i would tan at least 6 months before to get a really nice look. But since my dress is off white, i am not going to bother, it makes me look tan naturally.

Re: Tanning question
I think it all depends on how tan you want to be. I would suggest starting out in March and buy a three month package.
I tried the 6second/mystic tan at hollywood tans while I was home for Christmas and it was ok. It served its purpose but I wouldn't suggest it for a wedding because you can somewhat sweat it off lightly and I wouldn't want that to happen to someone's wedding dress.
It was funny though because I did it late at night on the 23rd and by the 24th my husband and brother were sing 'soul man' to me joking me with about that movie when the guys takes the tanning pills, because I was tan overnight.. lol
On me the rest of my body looked real and great but I felt it looked like tanner on my face.
And this is me back to my regular pale color, I'm kinda carsick so it isn't a flattering picture but you can really see the difference

Re: Tanning question
I am going a month before. Before the e-party I was going 3 days a week. The week of the e-party I went everyday. My tans last for a while except for my face. I have a tanish complexion already but right now my face and arms are lighter than my legs and everywhere else so I want to go so my skin is one color and also because of the HM. I don't want to burn in HI.

Re: Tanning question
Speaking of tanning ...
for those who went for makeup trials, how did that work if you were 'untanned' during the trial? I am curious if the makeup artists would have to do ANOTHER trial closer to the wedding date (on your tanned face), b/c I would imagine the colors would be different? I worry that I might like the makup on my naturally fair skin, but it wouldn't work on my tanned skin?
Ok .. maybe I'm just being too anal here ..

Re: Tanning question
Felicia I was just talking about this with my MOH!! I plan on doing another makeup trial since I got the pics back from my first one and I was so pale looking. Denise from Angel Eyes said she will have all shades available the day of the wedding but I want to go again for a trial just to make sure you know?

Re: Tanning question
start tanning early... you want to see how your skin reacts to the bulbs in the tanning bed, plus you don't want to be burnt the day of the wedding. I use to go tanning a lot and can see the damage it has done to my skin. Just be careful and don't go overboard

Re: Tanning question
I tried the spray tanning once and I would never do it again. It smells awful and I would really be concerned about it rubbing off on my wedding dress. When I had it done I wore a white bra the next day and it got stained from the spray stuff.
With regular tanning is one month before early enough to start if you have really fair skin?
