Tanning vs. Self Tanning Lotions

I am ghostly white and need everyones opinion. Which is better, going to a tanning bed or using self tanning lotion. I need some color before the wedding or I will blend into the dress. Also does anyone know who has an open tanning bed in Suffolk County or Nassua (around Jericho or Hicksville areas). Help!!!

Self Tanning Lotions

A salon near me (in Brooklyn) has an asthetician apply the self-tanner by Aveda, which looked natural and I am as white as a ghost. By all means, go for a trial long before your wedding.

I've done both...

I think a tanning bed is a lot better. Well, for me anyway. I'm not ghostly white, but pretty pale if I don't go to the tanning salon. I love to go because I get so dark. I don't spend a lot of time in the sun, so a tanning salon is the best way for me. I'm definitely going to go to the salon starting 2-3 months before my wedding. The lotions I've found, make you look orange, they rub off, and I would not recommend it with a white wedding dress. It's sure to wipe off on there. The tan doesn't last long with either of them. If you stop using them for a week or more, your tan will diminish quickly. I'm sure there are girls here that have used more expensive lotions that don't rub off, or look orange. I just prefer the bed. I also only do it for special occassions since I don't like the idea that I'm buring myself with ultraviolet rays. Some people don't have the time to go to a tanning salon. I know for me, I always had to go 3 times a week for a couple of months to get the tan I wanted. Are you able to get tanned, or is your skin too pale? It might be a waste of money to do either one? I have pale skin throughout the year unless I'm in the sun. But when I am in the sun, I get really dark. I love having a tan. I feel better, and I think I look better with a tan. Good luck!

Neutragena

I used Neutragena spray (light to medium) this summer and it worked very well. Its very subtle. What I did, is about once a week when I got out of the shower I would spray it on my legs (or anywhere else you want) and then rub it in. IMMEDIATELY!!! Wash your hands - they will turn color if you do not.

I have also been to tanning salons in college and they are fine too.

Either way...experiement now and then continue with what you are happy with until your wedding.

good luck
