Can anyone tell me how the reception tasting runs? I realize that it is probably different among reception sites, but is it individual parties or 'bulk' upcoming weddings?

I believe it depends on your reception hall. I know we visited many places that have them scheduled every so often(there would be quite a number of others there).
There are other halls that will let you schedule your own private appointment.

When we went to ours it was a mix of Brides and Grooms to be and potential bookers. It was about 10 tables ... we tasted apetizers and main courses, no dessert... but it was all sooooo yummy
