we had our tasting last night with christina- less than 6 months til the big day! it was so nice to see it all decorated for a wedding that night- everything looked beautiful! also saw two of my old students who are valet parkers there! small world!
first we sampled some of the passed appetizers- we loved the beef skewers & lamb chops the best. crabcakes were way too fishy- we might ask them to skip crabcakes & add some more beef!
then we had the salad with walnuts, goat cheese & raspberry vinagrette. the absolutely best salad i've had! dad couldn't stop eating it! we're definitely going with this one!
for entree we sampled both the horseradish salmon (surprisingly delicious!) & the herb salmon (looked & tasted great!) with a variety of sauces. the chicken was dry & didn't look great- i was disappointed. but the mushroom sauce made up for it- very very tasty. my favorite was the chateaubriand with shiitake mushroom sauce- cooked perfectly!
i left NRC a stuffed & happy bride!

I am glad that you liked most of the food! I think we had the same food at our tasting too...we liked pretty much everything. I too was surprised at how good the salmon was! But I am still going with the sea bass (if they have it available). Did you get a look at the tables/chairs that were outside last night - I recently saw a post that someone saw white plastic furniture out there, and I def. do NOT want that!

I'm glad you liked everything....I had the chicken at the big bash they threw and I also wasn't crazy about it....I wonder if it would be rude to say something to Ida about that? Were you allowed to try other food? We were leaning toward one of the other salads and the filet....I'd like a chance to taste them. I haven't set up a tasting, but I'm going to give them a buzz and set one up ASAP!

Re: Tasting at North Ritz Club
i called christina to set up a tasting. we were in the bar room adjacent to the cocktail hour room. there was also another family there with a different woman/hostess. we did not have a choice of what to sample- they prepared the food that was being served at the wedding that night. however, i would ask if there is something particular you would like to try.
the furniture outside was beige & looked like wrought iron but probably was plastic. i'm not really sure- i'd ask about that too.
they had the upgraded linens on the tables- goldish-beige damask. it was beautiful. does anyone know the cost of the upgrades??

I think to upgrade the table linens it is an extra $300. I think they look nice.
The outdoor furniture that looks like iron,is plastic, but it looks nicer than the white plastic.
My tasting was very good also..glad you enjoyed. Everyone who has eaten there tells me that the chicken is dry...

Thanks for your update on the tasting!! The linen upgrade is $450, I just asked about 2 months ago. Can't wait till one of our brides gets married there soon!!! Glad to hear about the outdoor furniture too!
