tasting at RH (RP)

i called the RH's BM yesterday and asked to scheduled my tasting, and she said that they only do it when they have an event, so we get the entrees that they chose. which is weird, because isn't the purpose of a tasting to decide what you want? and if that's true, i would need to go to several tastings...

and the other thing is that she said that they don't do tastings for the cocktail hour food... um i have to choose like 6 things from a list of 20??? without tasting them??? W T F...

so she said we can go to a tasting at an event next week that is only doing cocktail-hour food... but they are having the food from 7-8 and we can't go till 9:30. does that even make sense??

i know she is busy and doesn't have time to answer all my stupid quesions but i have neer done this before (DUH) and i am so confused...

i did a tasting there when we were thinking of picking it... she told me the same thing. I think everywhere is different; i did a total of 3 tastings; two were dinner food and only one (our actual RH) was cocktail hour food. My theory is usually if the CH food is good then there is no problem. To be honest, we didn't love the food at Bridgeview (sorry!!) - it wasn't bad, just nothing great. But it was the same - 9:30 and only a night they had an event. If she gives you the option to try the CH food, go for it! the menu sounded great there either way.

Re: tasting at RH (RP)

We went with the Riviera in Massapequa. We wanted a place on the water and before seeing the Riviera we liked Bridgeview, Sans Souci and the Crescent Club. The Riviera was really more my style and very reasonably priced - I wanted more of a casual day wedding and loved the whole outdoor area for the ceremony and CH. At Bridgeview we couldn't guarantee the minimum for the evening wedding, and there I thought an evening wedding would be nicer. But I thought (Kathy?) was really nice, and it was the first place we looked at so it was fun and special.

I'm sure the food will be good. I didn't realize this is your real, final tasting - I agree that you should at least be able to try the entrees you are interested in. They gave us a fish, a chicken and a steak. I think the fish was the best. Oh and the salad with nuts and raspberry vinagreitte was delicious!

i have never been to the riviera, but i have heard wonderful things about it. we went with bridgeview because our wedding is in october, and i didn't really like the idea of an outdoor ceremony - just a personal preference! i think they have recently changed their menu, so we shall see when i go for a tasting next week!
