So our tasting at the Miller Place Inn is on Friday, and I have NO real idea what to expect. We all thought it would be like a small bridal expo with several of the couples they'd booked, since they're using their entire facility on a Friday night, but it's just the 4 of us. Do we tip? Pay for drinks? What exactly are we sampling - just entrees? Do we do cakes separately? WHAT'S GOING ON?????? Someone please clue me in, either here or by FM. Thank you.

Re: Tasting rules
It might work differently at different places but we just went to one at Land's End so here's how it went. There were probably less than 30 people total, each group had their own table. We were given drinks throughout, the maitre d's for the hall were actually serving as waiters/waitresses and answering questions. We were brought out several of the first courses, several second courses, several entrees and several desserts. Each person was given a full course and we would pass it around so everyone could try it. At the end, we left a tip on the table (I think $20) for the person who served us that night.

Now ya see? That's the kind of thing I was expecting! I was completely thrown when I found out that it would just be us and my parents. I feel kinda bad for monopolizing their time.

Re: Tasting rules
Are you sure there isn't an event going on?
The only tasting we went to was during a wedding. Obviously we were in the back near the offices where no one could see us.

Re: Tasting rules
When we had our tasting at Stonebridge there was an event going on but we were seated in another room (their restaurant part). We were served a regular dinner with appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts; as if we were eating out at a restauarant. They didn't charge us for anything but we did leave a tip for the waitress bc she was really good.

I guess we might be in the office - that's the only place it could be. All the rest is used for whatever event is going on. That's got to be how it works. I feel better now. Thank you!
