Re: tasting vent
Ours did the same thing - it was so f*cking annoying, amongst other stupid crap they promised but never did.
Call your BM's manager, and make a big deal out of it. That's what I did and I got a tasting. Of course the tasting was only with 3 dishes in total, but it was still something.

Re: tasting vent
yeah, for whatever reason crest hollow is weird with tastings
the food is great though
and even if you do a tasting, you only get to try CH food
they dont have a 'kitchen' in the way that other RHs do so it is annoying for them to do tastings

Re: tasting vent
I am aggravated with myself bc we never got it in writing and I should have demanded a tasting before we signed the contract

thanks that does make me feel better! I would love to try the food even if it is just for the CH...after all there are so many choices it would help narrow it down!

This!! We did a 'tasting' in our BM's office and it was just SOME of the cocktail hour food - no pasta, chicken etc. - but it was all really good!!!! And their iced tea and chocolate chip cookies are amazing!!!!

Re: tasting vent
my hall told us from the beginning that they don't do tastings because 'their reputation when it comes to food precedes them.' I basically went, 'well i would never serve my guests food I haven't tasted at my own dinner table, so why would i do it for my wedding?'
when i went back to meet with them a second time, they had an event going on, so they took some of the food from the kitchen and had a surprise mini-tasting for us, and they were right - everything was phenomenal!
maybe your hall would be willing to do a mini tasting during their next event sort of like mine did? this was all before we signed a contract though, so that helped our case!

Re: tasting vent
I had to demand a tasting before signing the contract so of course we had the tasting. It had to be booked during an event so we could get the cocktail hour food. The food was very good and people who have attended weddings there says the entrees are good as well. I wanted another tasting closer to picking the menu but decided to avoid the confrontation about it at this point. You will not be disappointed in the food and I am VERY picky!! Trust yourself when choosing the menu and you should be fine. The iced tea is to die for!!! I can't wait to go for my menu meeting next week to get some

HOLLLLLD UP!
You mean to tell me - you are about to spend THOUSANDS and they cannot provide you with a tasting????
I went to a RH before booking mine and they brought us a ton of food! WOW!
I would totally demand it!
Thats just not right! Especially if they even told you that you would have one!

Re: tasting vent
Stewart Manor CC was similar. We had already signed the contract and when we asked for a tasting before choosing the menu our BM said it was very unusual for them to do this after the contract is signed and she didn't know if they could arrange it. She said it was just something they don't do. The best part? There was a couple there that night in the ballroom having a tasting RIGHT IN FRONT OF US. It seemed they had not signed their contract yet. And we had just dropped off our 2nd payment! We made a small fuss and so we ended up getting one after some back and forth but it was in the office during another event so overall was not the best experience, but it did help us to have a sense of the food and quality, etc.
It really makes a difference if you don't ask for things before your contract is signed. Ask for what you want and get it in writing, it may save you some needless struggles later.

Re: tasting vent
Are any showcases being held at your venue? Maybe you can use that as your tasting. There would probably be a lot of food. LOB doesn't have one on one tastings but they gave us free admission to one of their showcases and also a GC for 2 for brunch which had a lot of the chaffing dishes we'd have to choose from too.

Re: tasting vent
wow, I've never heard of a hall not doing a tasting. Some brides refuse to book before they have a tasting- I know I was one of them. Granted I had mine after we booked, but I attended 2 bridal showcases to try the food beforehand.
Call them constantly until you get your way.

Re: tasting vent
Not sure who your BM is but I recently did a food tasting with my mom and fiance. We were told they can only allow for up to 4 people I only played along because my dad and his mom cancelled at the last minute.
The food was amazing...But I was happy they accommodated us.

Re: tasting vent
we did the tasting at CHCC but it was just appetizers ( I think someone had mentioned that before).... I have been to weddings there and it's never been bad, whatever.. I booked it-- I liked the venue. It does suckkk that they wont let u taste the actual meals but I really didnt care bc I knew the food there isnt horrible lol
