TATTOO ~ To Cover or Not to Cover

Ok I have been thinking about this for months now. I have a tattoo on my right shoulder, right at the top by my shoulder blade, It's a black rose about 3 inches.
Do you think I should have it covered (makeup) for the wedding or just leave it alone.
Do you think it's look tacky if I don't cover it???
What would you do??

Im not covering mine. To be honest I think its really a personal choice. In pics I dont like the way the cover up looks but that can always be fixed

maybe test it out first?? see if you like the way the makeup looks over it...

if you want to cover it you can wear your hair half up half down, so it'll cover it a little??

but i think its a personal choice..

I don't have a tattoo, but I think it's totally a personal choice... and I can see each reasons for each decision...

to not cover:
it's a part of your body, and also is a form of expression. you chose to decorate yourself that way, and it's become a part of you.... covering it would be like hiding a facet of your personality

to cover:
it's a very formal event, and tatoos are a bit 'untraditional' to some. It may be a visual focus, when you may want people to focus upon your dress or new ring

not sure what I would do....

i have a butterfly on my right back shoulder and my libra sign on the left....i am going to cover the libra sign and leave the butterfly...

I was going crazy. i'm getting mine airbrushed. it's on my chest. i think it'll look more elegant

I feel this is a personal choice. I do not have any tatts but i dont think they look elegant when you are wearing your gorgeous dress. However i do have friends that have them and they disagree with me because they got it because they wanted it and its a part of them so why cover it up. In their opinion if you dont want it showing then why did you even get it in a visible place.

Two different opinions based on personal prefference.

Personal choice. Do you want to see pics of your tatoo 20 years from now in pics. Are you worried about what other people will think if you don't cover it? It's all about what you an FH want, does he have an opinion?

I realy think its up to you, but the tattoo is there for a reason -- its' you, it's something you wanted, so why cover up something that is so 'you' ?

It's not tacky to not cover it! Do what you really want to do!

lol I just had this convo with my family the other day. My grandmother is outraged that i will not cover it for the wedding ( i have a dreamcatcher on my left shoulder) My dad said he would rather i covered it and i said no! I got it for a reason....why wuld i decide to get a tattoo if i was gonna cover it up! So i will be showing it off at my wedding wether they like it or not!! I say if you wanna show it off then show it!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is truly a personal choice...mine is in an area that will be covered by my dress already, but if the dress didnt cover it, i would probably put makeup on in....only because it does not match my theme of what i envision my wedding to be...plus, it would clash with my dress!

First I gotta say you girls ROCK!!
My dress can be worn on the shoulder or off, my original plan was to wear it off. On the shoulder it will probably cover it, off the shoulder it will show. I'm also wearing my hair half up/half down so that will help.

aarrggg I just wish this were an easy decision, FH has no thought on the issue (big help, lol) I don't regret getting it and it is a part of me I just don't want it to take anything away from my dress. I'm also a lil worried about the makeup getting on the dress.
I guess on the bright side it's not like it's a skull and crossbones or worst my ex-hubby's name, eeks, lol.
Thanks for all the advice and opinions, I'll keep ya posted.

I am covering mind with cover fx from Nordstrom, it is amazing. but it is a personal choice.

Mine is in the exact same spot and might be bigger than yours. I left it and honestly I think it was fine. In the church my veil mostly covered it and when I took the veil off for the reception it still wasn't a big deal at all. If I don't like the way it comes out in the wedding pics, theres always photoshop!

I thought about this as soon as I got engaged. However, I chose NOt to cover mine up. I have quite a few. But the ones that will show are on each arm, and my right shoulder blade. People know I have them ,and they except that. To cover them up, and regret years later when I'm looking at my wedding alblum is not what I want. Their part of my personality, and thats what FH and his family fell in love with

I have 2 tattoos...a small one on my chest, and another bigger one (about 3 or 4 in. diameter) on my left shoulder blade... I'm only covering the one on my chest, because I'm afraid if pics are taken from further away it will look like speck or something. But the one on my sholderblade I'm not covering.

I've seen brides on here with full (tattoo) sleeves in wedding gowns...personally, I like that look. Like Portjeff said, you chose to get the tattoo to express yourself...if however, your tattoo is something you regret (like mine) I would most definitely cover them... I only have tattoos on my feet and ankles, so they will be covered by the dress.
