Tattoo'ed Bridesmaids

Tattoo'ed Bridesmaids

So I was talking with my Mom and my girlfriend came by my house. She recently got a tattoo. She told me she had got one on her arm and I was like 'okay.' But she shows up with this huge colorful SLEEVE on her arm.

My Mom looked at me and walked away. So after thinking about it I decided that I want the girls to have large tattoos covered. I can't picture looking back my wedding pics and seeing my girlfriends SLEEVE. Dont get me wrong, I'm all for tattoos but I don't know about them for my wedding. I have two that I plan on getting covered because they do not fit with my vision.

So my question is...

Are you having bridesmaids cover LARGE tattoos??

i dind't have any BMs with any large tat's ... but if they did have them, i probably wouldn't have cared.

however, if you don't want them in your wedding photos, i see nothing wrong with asking them to cover up.

you can also do what David Tutera once did with his bride (on my faire wedding) - they had the tatoos covered for the ceremony and photos, and un-covered them at the reception. best of both worlds

ETA: i didn't vote, sorry but i wasn't sure hwich one to pick

Funny..I'm actually the most tattooed one out of the group...sleeve and full back...it's become who I am and what everyone knows me for...I thought about covering up for a slight minute and my friends and even friends parents almost had a heart attack of the thought of me covering them.....so no covering up for me or any of my girls...

However, I have heard the air brushing option and heard it works out really well!

Good Luck!

I only have 1 bm with tattoos and I am having her cover up ANY visible tattoos. I don't mean to offend anyone, but I am really not into tattoos.

Like I said on one of the other boards i have tattoos and so does my BM and i am not covering mine and not asking her to cover hers. i think tattoos are a representation of who you are.

That being said................. this is YOUR wedding and YOUR vision. You have every right to ask them to cover their tattoos especially if you are covering yours. I dont think she should take offense because this is your day and it all about what you want. How she feels about it should not play into it all.

No.

My opinion.....you take your girls as they are. I would never ask someone to take out a piercing or change hair color or cover tats in order to fit into my wedding. Tats are a part of the person who has them, you love them not for what they look like but for who they are. I would be offended..JMHO

My whole back is tattooed and I think my tats didn't take anything away from wedding or my pictures or anything like that.

100% agree, all of mine were showing the day of, so I could never ask anyone else to cover up theirs, nor would I ever ask anyone to cover them up

you know FH & I got into a little tift on this subject, none of my bm's have any tattoos, i have 1, Fh has 2 huge ones that arent visble while hes wearing a shirt. but one groomsman has this big ol' tat on his neck, and i asked FH to see if the shirt would cover it, and he flipped and said 'then i dont want any pictures of your feet since thats where your tattoo is' .... so long story short, no one is covering there tattoos.
however, i might just slip the photographer a few bills to not photograph that gm's tattoo side ;) (kidding)

2 of my bridesmaids had tattoos, but they were small and I didn't have any issues with it because they were in places that would not show up in pictures. That being said, if they had tats that were rather large and took up ample space on their bodies, I think I would ask them to cover them up. No offense, but I personally, am not a fan of tattoos at all. They're just not my cup of tea, and I wouldn't expect any hostility from my girls. I think they'd understand that tattoos aren't for everyone and since it's only one day, I don't think it would be a big deal. Just my thoughts though! Bottom line is, it is YOUR day, you're the bride, and if you want something to be there or not be there, you have every right to say something. You only get married once!

Tattoos have become more mainstream and are a sign of the change in times. Showing them is one way of capturing that.
I have one tat on my leg that will prob not show up on pics, if any of my girls had sleves or tats that showed, I would not mind b/c they are a translation of people's individuality. I have not seen one sleeve tat that I did not like. The only thing I would have covered is anything demonic, sacriligious, or offensive to children (ie, naked ladies/men)

ITA with these two!! My cousin just got her entire back done and I love it. I have six tattoos myself and could never ask anyone to cover them up. That is who they are, and i'm not changing that just for my wedding. I would also be offended. JMO

ITA.

I have a friend that was recently a BM in a wedding and she has a full sleeve. They talked to the photographer about it and although the tattoo did show in some pictures, the photog took extra care to position her in places so that her sleeve wouldn't show (at least in the posed pics).

Just another option to consider.

I am a tattoo girl and most of my BM's have at least one tattoo, some we even got at the same time . I could never ask them to cover the tattoo because I am not covering any of mine. In my opinion, if someone there doesn't like the tattoo then DON'T LOOK!!

At the end of the day, it is your wedding and she will just have to understand that you want her to cover it up. I hope she doesn't take any offense to this and agrees. Good luck...

none of my BM's have large tats but the ones that are visible, i'm not asking them to cover it since i'm not covering mine either. I asked the 2 weddings i was in if they wanted me to cover my tat and they said no - that's who you are. i even tried to stand on one side of the photos so that my tat wouldn't be seen but the photographer WANTED the tat to be shown. i don't think tat's are such a big deal now with photos - it's so much more common now

I myself have tattoos, just 2 will be visable (left under wrist, small one in the back of my neck), so I'm no one to tell the girls to cover them, but thankfully none of my 3 BM and MOH have tattoos.

Only one of my MOHs has tattoos (one on her inner ankle) and I am not asking her to cover it up at all. I'm planning on covering mine up on my foot so I wouldn't dare think of asking her to cover up hers.

Re: Tattoo'ed Bridesmaids

one of my BM has about 30 tats.... im putting the girls in long dresses so you cant see the ones on her legs... im not going to make her cover her upper body ones but i will make sure for the pics that my photog airbrushes out the pics that will be in my album.

Im not against the tats but and i would never ask her to cover them up i accept her for who she is but for my album pics i would really love not to see them all.....

Only one of my bridesmaids have tattoo's. I would like for her to cover them, bc I'm not a tattoo person, but I feel like she would get offended if I asked her. So I'm not going to say anything. It's prob not that big of a deal anyway.

I have 2, my MOH has 2 and one of my BM has many. Maybe the tattoos aren't your thing but that's who they are and you should want them to be in the wedding because they are special to you not whether or not they are going to ruin your pictures. Personally I would be offended if I had no intentions of covering it and someone asked me to.

As a side note one of my BM with many tattoos is also a sloppy hot mess in every other aspect of her appearance. I don't mean to sound so mean when I say that but it's the truth. At the end of the day is she going to look 100% polished on my wedding day even with the hair and make up done, probably not but she's my cousin and I grew up with her so it's important for her to be in it either way. That's like the same concept as the tattoo.
