I've been to Tavern for dinner only, but a friend of mine has gone there for a wedding and said it wasn't worth what it cost the b&g. She said that the service was terrible.

There are tons of places in Manhatten. I would google: nyc weddings. Good luck!

Depending on your budget, there are some great venues. I don't know what your style is... but try:

Tribeca Rooftop (they are catered by the same people as Lands End, etc.) They are about $200-$250/person for a Saturday night, and they have a high minimum. http://www.tribec.com/

I LOVED this place, but its definitely an acquired taste, I think. But the views are fantastic:
The Foundry

They have a $6,000 site rental fee, and then you have to get catering, tables, etc. But its a beautiful place.

Also, look into the Rainbow Room. I went to a wedding there, and it was gorgeous. I've heard rumors though that its about $400-$500/person for a Sat night. Not sure if thats true.

Finally - Abigail Kirsch - the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers is BEAUTIFUL. http://www.abigailkirsch.com/lh.html Again, more than $200/person for a Sat night. But these guys do a GREAT job. One of my coworkers was married here and said the service is impeccable.

Just keep in mind that for a NYC wedding you are looking at AT LEAST $200/head. Good luck! FM if you have questions. I started out my search by looking at NYC venues too, so I know quite a bit of them!
