I just got the call yesterday that my proofs are in and that I can go pick them up today at 11 . My question is.....when she told me the balance I owed she also added on tax and that was like 400 dollars, so is this correct do you pay tax on your photographer or am I getting ripped off? Thanks ladies!!!!!!!

I believe that there shouldn't be tax on a service (like a DJ), but there is supposed to be tax on merchandise (like photographs, albums, frames, etc.)

yup. no tax on a 'service'--but photographers charge tax because they are not only giving you a service, they are providing you with a tangible product (i.e.---your proofs, albums, enlargements, etc)

nope, you do pay tax on your whole package because you are not only getting a service, but you are getting a tangible product.

Just like the other ladies have said, yep you pay taxes for photography... unfortunately.
