Tax on wedding gowns & accessories

If I purchase my gown in NJ do I pay tax or is this included in the no tax for clothing? I am assuming it's no tax because it's clothing.

I am not totally sure, but if you get it shipped to NY you shouldnt pay taxes as it is being sold out of state... I'd probably call any random bridal store in NJ and ask.

I know when I have ordered things and have it shipped to anywhere on LI, I pay tax on clothing.

If I'm not mistaken, even when we had no tax on clothing in NY, we still had tax on things that were not 'necessity' types of clothing. I thought formal gowns and other things like that were always subject to tax. I don't know if that's the case in New Jersey, but I thought I'd mention it, because it's possible that this is their rule since a wedding gown is only a one time purchase.

I could be wrong, but I thought you were taxed on anything over $100 regardless. It's worth giving them a call to see though!

If you purchase your wedding gown in NJ, there will be no tax on it.

There will be tax on accessories though (other than shoes).
