I live in Queens currently and I was wondering what the average property tax is like in Nassau. The taxes in Queens are much lower, like around $3000 or less, but the houses are way out of our price range for what we are looking for. We found a house in Bellerose Village and the taxes are over $7500! Is this typical?

That is typical.. I would say average is $7000. You can find houses in Nassau where the property tax is as low as $3- 4000, but that is very rare.. Usually like a small Westend bungalow in Long Beach.

Re: Taxes in Nassau?
It depends on the area in Nassau but that does sound average to me. Mine are over 10K. If you work in Queens/NYC and live on the island you don't have city tax coming out of your pay check anymore. So you can factor that into how much you are paying in taxes in the city. It makes some difference.
