You have to apply for the professional cert and can do this via the Teach Online Services website.

Re: Teacher Certificates???
You need to have your professional certification within five years of your initial, so if you are coming close to that apply now, if not do it right away in june I heard they mess upp a lot.

Re: Teacher Certificates???
I am sort of in the same boat and was going to apply now, but then once you get your professional certification you have to log of 175 hours of professional hours every 5 years. so i figured why start doing that a year or two earlier than i have to

Great question, Im in the same boat.
I think we have to wait to get our yearly review paper in order to sign up for the next certification.

Re: Teacher Certificates???
You can apply for a professional after 5 years of teaching and a certain of professional development hours.
Description: The advanced-level certificate for classroom teachers (issued in specific subject/grade titles) and School Building Leaders.
Validity: Continuously valid with completion of required professional development hours on a five-year professional development cycle.
The paper that gives you your rating for the year. Not sure if I used the correct termonology in my other post.

I thought it was everywhere- but could be wrong... it's def a city thing though- b/c I've been getting mine every year.
I forgot who posted b4 but- yes you are right.... why have to start the 175 earlier than I have to. GOOD CALL! I didnt even think of that! I think I might apply in May just to get the paperwork rolling b/c the state does take FOREVER!
