Okay -- So I just finished my master's degree in Special Education in May and want to START the application process for my permanent certification in elementary education (which is what my provisional cert. is in). I know I have to take the CST's and do the video -- in addition to the school safety/violence seminars. However, the application is SOOO overwhelming. Has anyone done this recently? Any advice? I don't even know where to start!! I'd appreciate any help I can get!

I graduated in 2002 ..... I was under the impression I had to do the video -- this stuff is soooo confusing!! I can't get a straight answer from anywhere :(

Honestly the best thing to do is call Albany--and ask all your questions--thats what I did :) I am Elementary Ed and I think for my perm certification I needed to take the CST and do a video. Good Luck!!!

If you are working for a school district they will sit down and go through it with you....you will also need proof that you have been teaching for 2 full years. A lady from personnel sat with me to fill out the application, put everything together and sent it in for me.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I start work on Tuesday, so I'll see if someone can help me there. It's just a lot of information!!
Okay one more question -- when I register for the CST -- what do I take it in? El ed is not a choice -- I'm assuming MULTI SUBJECT CST?! All the other options are specific subject areas.
By the way, my superintendent informed me today that I'll be receiving my tenure at next week's board meeting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay -- I'm trying to register online for the CST in elementary education off the state ed's website. However, when it asks for what type of cst, there is no choice for ELEMENTARY EDUCATION. They have social stories, spanish, greek, etc....the only one that looks like it could be it is MULTI SUBJECT -- but even that doesn't seem right.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

There are 2 you need to take, multi subject and students with special needs, also you need to take LAST and ATSW....

Im going through the same thing. I graduated with and El Ed in 2001....as far as i can understand to get permanent certification we have to to the CST in multi subject. I just got my masters in Literacy so i also took the CST in literacy. Im doing my video this year and then I'll be done. I haven't done the paper work for it yet.
