Hi Girls! I am trying to find a fun getting to know you type of activity to do with my students for the first day of classes. Any ideas?

I am a middle school reading teacher and I have my students interview someone they don't know well....they first get an organizer that has info about me on it so they can get to know me as well...then I hand them out a blank organizer and they interview someone and then eventually introduce that person to the class.
Can you believe how quick this summer went?? I am so not ready for school... I have been having those first day of school nightmares!!

You could do an activity where they need to go around and talk to everyone.
Make up a sheet of things people may have done
_________ speaks another language fluently
_________ has lived in another country
It gets them moving and most of them love it...just an idea

Try something where they have to pair with one person and learn five facts about them and then present the info about that person to the class. So everyone gets to know everyone, but no one has to stand up and talk about themselves.
