I teach 5th grade and have started doing some thinking about next year. (Only because the wedding is coming up and I won't have time later on). Do any of you have a suggestion for a fun beginning of the year read aloud-chapter book?? Something fun to get the kids excited about reading???? Thanks

Re: Teachers?
Hmmmm, being a 2nd grade teacher, can't think of one on that level (5th), but check out www.teachers.net and perhaps post there. You'll get a number of great suggestions.

Re: Teachers?
At the end of the year (for 4th grade), I love Holes by Louis Sachar. ETA: My students also loved Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.
