Re: Teachers
Well, I used to be teacher. I taught secondary science, so I might be an exception, but I found my first job right out of school, and my second pretty quickly as well. But I am not teaching anymore. I hated both places I worked.

I'm curious too...I had a very frustrating summer sending out major resumes & every online app....ended up back in Catholic School.

Re: Teachers
It really depends on what you teach. If you are an elementary school teacher, it could take you a REALLY long time. There are so many out there. If you are a special area teacher, or a middle school or high school subject like math or science it will probably take you less time. It took me 7 months to find my job and it was the ONLY full time tenure track position I was offered. I was offered a leave replacement and a part time position. I have a wonderful job though and it is my second year teaching. OH, I teach ESL (now called ELL).

Re: Teachers
FH teaches secondary science and he hasn't had a full time position yet. For the last 2 years all he has gotten is leave replacements.

Re: Teachers
well lets see.. i graduated with my ba in elementary ed in 2000.. i had a permanent sub position for 4 years, finished my masters in literacy, and had a leave replacement reading teacher position, in which they said I definately had that job, but nope, I am now working in a preschool private school.. I am now moving anyway to Penn. and I am getting alot of calls for public school positions..

Re: Teachers
My FH is a teacher and this is his first year. He really didn't have that difficult of a time finding a job. He graduated with his masters in May and had a job by August. He teaches HS science though!

Re: Teachers
I work in forest hills, and i really wouldnt want to work in LI- the stress and b.s. are not worth it, no matter how much they pay. Besides the fact that they higher solely based on neptitism.....
