Are you feeling the stress of the new school year? I had open house last night, and I feel like I am stressing big time. There is so much work to be done, the wedding may never get totally planned!
Is this your first year...I really felt that it wasn't until the 3rd year that I had a handle on everything and that I could relax...
I'm not stressed at the beginning of the year, but I AM busy right now....just getting things done...
you have time before your wedding...use the vacations to the fullest...

Re: teachers...
No stress, just the burden of a sweet, adorable, well behaved child who was placed in my classroom although he desperately needs to be in a 'special needs' environment where he will get individualized attention and instruction. It's going to be HELL getting him evaluated and getting parental permission to have him moved (they have already denied services), but this child cannot succeeed in my class, and that's not fair to him.
Okay, enough venting... Christy, I got married in my tenure year, and at times I felt like there weren't enough days for me to get things done, but it all came together beautifully. Just take one day at a time and prioritize. What grade do you teach? Is it a big testing year? I'm sure that that alone is stressful, but if you do your best, you can't go wrong. Make a to do list each week and try to stick to it. Honestly, you will be FINE!

Re: teachers...
I teach first grade, and this is my second year. So of course I am trying to do things a bit differently than I did my first year! I just seem overwhelmed this year. I dont know, I manage to get it all done. But school is all I can think about, plus I went back to grad school at night. (4 classes to go until I get my Masters!) So I guess I just feel like how will the wedding get planned. But I will have to make lists and try my best to adhere to them! Thanks ladies!

You will get through it. My first year in a public school was the year I was getting married. I went through HELL that year working with one of the teachers. But now Im in a district I love. But I feel a little stressed , because I have to help prepare my students to pass the Regents exams

Re: teachers...
My back to school night is tomorrow and I'm not prepared! My wedding is coming up in 27 days and I am so preoccupied with the final planning and running around with moving into my new house that I totally forgot about it! Well, I'll just get through it. This is my 4th year and I'm not too nervous. I Know I'll be answering questions about my upcoming wedding during parent's night. They are all wondering what's going on and if I'll be taking a HM (which we are) Are any of you getting married during the school year? What are you doing?
Also, I just had to share this funny (embarassing) story with you since we are all teachers. Marnels (who works with me) wanted me to post it in one of my messages on the bride helping bride board. here it is for you:
OMG! This is too much! Are you ready for a laugh?
I'm a Special Ed. first grade teacher. I live and work in the same town, so you can imagine how many times I run into students. Well, one day right after school I needed to stop at CVS and pick up a few things. I grabbed a basket and began shopping, when I heard~ There's your teacher! Go Get her! I turn around to see one of my students running towards me. He looks into my basket and begins to shout 'Miss Kelly has Tampons!' 'Miss Kelly is buying Tampons!' 'Miss Kelly has tampons, unscentd, multipack!' Over and over! I was mortified! His mother did nothing to shut him up and just continued to talk with me.
Some more background info: This student is autistic and can read (decode) on a 4th grade level.
Are all of you rolling on the floor now? I told my friends at school and they still can't stop laughing at my embarassing moment! Hope you enjoyed it!

Re: teachers...
I am feelin' the stress...back to school night is on Thursday.
I have double prep...one class of accelerated 8th graders who will take their first ever regents and 3 classes of Science 8 kids
My principal called me into his office and questioned me taking off THE DAY OF MY WEDDING (long story short, he forgot we spoke over the summer and that I was getting married on that day!) (Its the Friday before a 3 day weekend - union/contract thing)
Uggghhh, not too many days to go! Off to do lesson plans for my dbl period lab and do the seatting charts for my wedding!

completely. 4th year teaching, but 1st year teaching a college-level class. i am just in the beginning stages of wedding planning & i really do not have time to meet with vendors. i'm lucky if i get 10 minutes to read this board every few days! its hard getting used to all the work again. hang in there ladies, we'll get through it. and just think... only 9 months to go!
spel...what are you teaching? I just started AP Psych...
CarrieAnn...my sisters wedding is that day...I had no problem getting off...but my cousin a BM had to take the day without pay...its the most rediculous thing I have ever heard...in my last school the principal didn't approve someone who was getting married and wanted the 3 days after off...he just called in sick...what does your contract say?
