I need to know some good stores to get supplies..like construction paper, lables and such. Does the dollar stores have anything like this??

They do but they don't have a lot of materials. They just opened a new teacher store in Seaford Island School and Art Supplies. They have other locations.

Dollar Tree does. Staples also has them too. AC Moore also has stuff and you can use the 40% coupon

I order from www.DiscountSchoolSupply.com. They have very reasonable prices and fast turnaround.

I usually get stuff like glue and pencils from staples. Right around this time they have HUGE sales. I just saw in the staples flyer that Elmers glue is free. Of course there's a limit, but free is free.

Also there's a teacher's supply store on Union right by SJU if you're near that area.

Try Lakeshore Learning (it's in New Hyde Park) or LLWeans (Farmingdale).

I go to Dollar Tree for labels and bins... I bought most of my supplies on classroomdirect.com
Its a great site and shipping is fast and free for orders over $50

LL Weans closed. A small teacher store opened in Shirley if that is by you.

Also, I just found out about a materials resource center with severely discounted supplies... off the LIE on Ocean Ave..

I think LL Weans is closed now. There's an Island School and Art Supply in Oakdale on Sunrise Highway...if you do go to Staples, make sure you sign up for their teacher reward program !!!

Also Target has amazing sales around this time of year too

Same here. For paper and supplies like that, check out Staples, Walmart, or any discount dept store for better deals than the teaching stores, even Stop & Shop had notebooks at a better price than the teaching stores. But if you need specialized things, like plan books, classroom charts, etc, the teacher stores are better for that & they have more of a selection too.

I know it sounds crazy, but if you have family members in other states, ask what prices are for items you're going to be using in the classroom. My parents just came up from Florida this past week and brought me a ton of Crayola markers from Walmart for $0.88 each, rather than me paying $3.49 each here. My mom also found cute bulletin board borders for less than $1 each in a dollar store too.

The store on Union Tpke is called Carol School Supply . I'll be in there sometime next week!
