Teachers--Certification Certificate Q--esp. Early Childhood

Hi there. I just received my certification in the mail (YEAAAAAAAA!) & was surprised b/c my Masters was in Early Childhood, however, my certification states Grades 1-6.

Is there not an Early Childhood specification?

1-6 IS Early Childhood Cert!

FH was surprised too, because he was offered a job in a kindergarten classroom, and had to decline because his cert will only start at 1st grade.

And congrats!!!

That's what I'm questioning, b/c technically my Masters was from Birth - 2nd grade. What if a UPK class or K class wants to hire me.

And thanks!!!!!!

That's so interesting! I don't think you'd be able to teach pre-K or K w/o the certification but I can totally be wrong.

Hi Cindy!

I graduated from the same school as you and I did early childhood, too. They sent me my certification as 1-6 as well, and it is 'kind of' a mistake. I will FM more.

Early Childhood is Pre-K- 2, you have to request Early Childhood certification. This is what I did, otherwise the certification goes under Common Branches(K-6)

That is so crazy that you have to specifically request a B-2 certification or they automatically give you 1-6. I mean ideally I'd teach 2nd or 3rd so maybe I should keep what I have---but I don't want to limit myself (in either direction)
