Re: Teachers . . .
I use an online university for courses - Connected University. I think it's $300 a year, but you can take as many online classes as you want. My school offers a scholarship program where they pay for me to join and then I have to offfer a course at school. I've taken some really great courses.

Re: Teachers . . .
are you guys talking about professional development or In-service courses??
For in-service courses, MESTRACT comes out with a course catalog full every semester or so.. and Sachem has a whole teacher center where out of district teachers can take courses as well!

We also use the New York Center for Teacher Development. I think it's www.nyctd.org. They have online and in-person classes.

how do online courses work? is it at your leisure, or do you need to be present at specific times? i'm interested but wary at the same time!

Check to see if your district approves online courses - mine doesn't.
Long Island Institute for Professional development (LIPPS) offers both inservice and graduate courses at places in both Nassau and Suffolk. If you are looking to get 'early' and not pay a lot then they are great. They have a website.
