Okay, I am beginning to prep for my first day next mon (7th and 8th grade Social Studies at a school in Queens). Unfortuantely, the teacher I am replacing has been out for over a week and no one knows where the students are at. Any advice for how to prep for the first few days? What to expect with discipline? Any good starting lesson ideas? TIA!

Re: Teachers, help!
to buy you some time. spend a day doing light work...worksheets, fun activities while you are stressing your rules for how the class will run.
behavior, homework, tests signed etc things like that.
I would try this week to go in to the school, and get the teachers home phone number. She has the responsibility to tell you what you need to do. Or maybe if there are any other teachers with yoru position- ask them for where they are at
