TEACHERS I NEED YOUR HELP (mostly math teacher)

A friend of mine has a math problem. She has the answer key but what the book is saying is the answer is totally confusing. So here's the question: 2 5/2-2 3/2. I came up with 1 but the answer the book gives is 2 3/2. I just don't get it and math is one of my best subjects. Can any of you help and explain how you got your answer.

TIA

The answer is definitely one - you can FM me if you want my math qualifications The answer in the book doesn't even make sense. try adding 2 3/2 and 2 3/2 and you obviously don't get 2 5/2.

Yup, it is 1. A lot of my teacher edition books have errors.

I tried solving it a few ways. 1 each time

Thank you so much ladies.I've it so many ways but I still came to the answer 1. I told my friend she needs to bring it to the attention of her professor beacause it's not a good way to learn if the books are wrong. Especially if you don't know how to do it to begin with.

But thanks again.
