TEACHERS: Inviting Coworkers

TEACHERS: Inviting Coworkers

Who exactly are you inviting? In my opinion, it is too much to invite whole school with their significant others. Do you just invite friends, closest collegues, no one or everyone? I don't know who to invite. In a way I don't want to offend anyone, but you know, sometimes you have to not give a hoot. My coworker last year invited all teachers from all grades. I don't think that is necessary. I work in a very tight knit school. What are you doing? Thanks a bunch!

I am not inviting any teachers from my school, but I am also resigning to move to LI after the wedding.
Another teacher at my school got married over spring break and she didn't invite anyone either. I think it's easier than having to explain why you can invite some and not others. Do you already have a big guest list?

I do have a large guest list. I just need a logical rational to invite/not invite some/all guests. We are a small school. Whenever a teacher gets married or has a baby, usually a shower is thrown (in school). Everyone buys gifts.

I figure if I invite one that I have to invite all. We all get along and all the other teachers have invited me to their weddings (that is how long I've been there). I've also not gone to previous weddings and given envelopes anyway.

My only logical solution to this is invite my closest colleagues.

I am going into my first year teaching in Sept. I finished a perm sub then a maternity leave at the same school. I am friendly with many women from floating around the building. I am now wondering who should I invite when the invitations are ready to go out. I don't think I will invite everyone but maybe the max would be 8 couples from work. Set a limit then decide. I know it seems hard to exclude people.

Im a phys ed teacher so I only invited the other phys ed teacher. We share an office. If I started inviting other people like I wanted it would open up a whole can of worms.

I've been teaching in the same school (high school) for 8 years. Most teachers limit their invites to the members of theirr dept., close friends, co-teachers and that's it.

I never planned on inviting any but in all honesty we were afraid we would not make our minimum (FMIL needed to invite 26 people from CA who had no intentions of ever coming because we are seeing them out there 3 weeks later for a family reunion) and that's the reason why I invitess 'some' from work. I didn't invite everyone from my dept (about 3), my chairperson, my co-teacher and a few others I was close to. Several have other weddings that weekend (family)

our dept is close knit. I have to invite everyone. It will be 40 people (including gues in that 40) But hey I REALLY want everyone of them there. I love everyone of them and we are all really really close.
THey are part of the reason i LOVE my job

It is going to be tough but i have a year to save to make sure i can invite all of them

It is tough though

I'm inviting the principal and two assistant principals. I am also inviting all of the teachers on my grade. We eat lunch together and see each other outside of school - otherwise I wouldn't invite all of them.

I spoke with a few coworkers - they all said people will understand if they are not invited - as long as it doesn't seem like you are singling one person out.

I mailed out my stds - but I held on to the ones for coworkers. I want to make sure they are all still at my school in September

I am just inviting my dept and two other people outside my dept. Although I am not as close to everyone in my dept feel like it will be too much drama to exclude certain people and not others. But who knows maybe next year I will feel different about this.

Both my FH and I have worked in the same school for 15 years. We The majority of our friends are the people we hang out with from work. So we have invited the majority of our or school even though we could not invite everyone, there are 200+ staff members. Some people who we do not know for all those years feel slighted but what can you do.
Invite who is closest to you and that's it!!!

I am inviting my coworkers who are also my friends...the ones i spend time with outside of work...and their significant others

i am deciding whether to invite the principal and assistant and the language arts chairperson... I am not sure if inviting these people will open a can of worms

I am inviting who I have good friendships with. I don't care for my principal so she isn't invited. For those who I asked who have significant others (husbands or SERIOUS boyfriends rather than the flavor of the month) I made sure I told them I was being discreet and asked them NOT to discuss it with anyone else. There are always people gunning for an invite to a wedding. I think thats tacky.

Re: TEACHERS: Inviting Coworkers

I invited the people I'm closest with and work with daily. Unfortunatly in that count I had to invite a person or two that I'm not that fond of but I work very closely with. She would have been very offended if she wasn't invited.
All in all about 14 people including their guests.
I am planning on putting up my invitation for the church so if others want they can attend and that way the children can attend the church if they want. I would love it if my kids came to the church!

I'm only inviting those that I have a relationship with outside of school. I'm getting married in Philly, so it makes it easier to not invite people.

Re: TEACHERS: Inviting Coworkers

I am inviting two coworkers that I am friends with outside of school (but were also let go this year so nobody will even know about it), and the three secretaries. No principal!! I am thinking of inviting ONE other teacher but I'm not sure what to do about that. I figured by keeping it to the secretaries nobody could really get offended.
