I think I'm going to invite my kindergarten class to my ceremony. Is anyone else doing this or did you already? Did you write up some kind of invitation? I need invitation ideas for them. Very simple. TIA!

Re: teachers - inviting your class?
I'm not a teacher- but I went to a friend's wedding and they did some photos with her class-
I want to, but I teach in Westchester, so I probably won't :( My friend did, and she printed out cute invites on pretty paper that she got at Staples (cheap) and wrote something like 'SOmebody's Getting Married...' on the outside, and when you unfolded it it said 'It's Miss Smith and Mr. Gordon'
You and your grownup are invited to watch us get married (with the info) she put cute clip art pics of kid drawn brides and grooms. SHe actually had one of her kids make a picture for the cover of her cd favors, too. Really cute!

that was the cutest picture! When I get married, i'll be teaching grades 7-12 so I'm guessing it wouldn't have the same effect

Re: teachers - inviting your class?
My girlfriend teaches 6th grade, and her DH does too (at the same school) and their kids were invited to the church. I would NEVER invite my kids b/c their kids were really disrespectful- using their cellphones, talking the whole time. And their parents were with them.

My kids keep asking.....my answer NO WAY. I teach 10th and 12th grade, they can rarely make it through s 43 minute period, I am now inviting them to a mass.

Re: teachers - inviting your class?
I'm thinking on the last day of classes, I'll tell my honors class if any of them want to watch me get married at the church, they can come, and I'll write the address on the board and tell them how to get there (it's pretty close to where I teach). I'm only going to tell my honors class though because they're very mature (they're like 16-17), I have a great relationship with them, and some of them have told me they'd like to come. Most of them probably won't come though.

I have a really good group and I totally trust the parents! I am not crazy!! I wouldn't do it if I thought it would be out of control obviously! A few of the other 07ers are doing it also. They are excited and I really care for them and they are looking forward to it as well as their parents!

Re: teachers - inviting your class?
i would invite my kids.. but then again i'm also inviting my principal, several other 6th grade teachers, .. so if anyone acts up... they WILL be handled..
also i work in a small community, so my students are also my neighbors, and go to my church, same supermarket, they go to the same dr as i take my daughter..their older brothers are in classes with my younger brother.. etc.. i see them EVERYWHERE!
however.. as a middle school lead teacher, i only have my kids one period a day, and i doubt that i'd have developed that close of ar elationship with them between september and december for me to invite them.. so i'mma say thats a no for my class...

Re: teachers - inviting your class?
Last summer my daughters teacher got married at St. Patricks in Bay Shore. There were about 30 1st graders there! They behaved beautifully and it was a full mass. The kids (and parents) knew all year that she was getting married and I thought it was very thoughtful of her to invite all of us.

You don't need to defend yourself, I think inviting your kids is a great idea, that just shows how close you are too them...if you know that they will behave well (and who else would know but you?) I say go for it without any doubt...
