What is the average salary for a beginning teacher in LI? What about a 2nd or 3rd year teacher? Trying to decide whether I should try for LI or keep focus on the city.

Re: Teachers- LI salary??
It depends on the district and county. I think there is a website that you can look it up on. I don't know what it is, though. Sorry!

Re: Teachers- LI salary??
It really does depend on the district but I would think the average is around 46,000. I taught for two years in the city and will definitely suggest trying to make the move. It is a world of difference. That's only my opinion though. Some districts will give you credit for your years in the city so you will start at a higher scale. Some might only credit you for one year. It really depends.

I'm stuck in a catholic school...you don't even want to know my salary!!!! I've been trying to get into a public school for a couple of years and it's really tough. Fill out some of the online applications...you'll never know.

Re: Teachers- LI salary??
It really really depends on the area....I interviewed at two districts within weeks of each other and was offered $12,000 more at one district. (Guess which one I chose?)
Obviously, the better known districts pay more....but not always
