teachers & mortgages

teachers & mortgages

We just got the call from the attorney--we've got 45 days to obtain our mortgage commitment!! I've been looking around at different banks, but I wanted some feedback from LIW'ers, especially teachers who've gotten mortgage interest discounts. Any feedback on the following: washington mutual, bank of NY, astoria federal, nassau educators? Any other ones I should look at?
IMPORTANT: we're not closing till July so we need the maximum lock in (90 days with a further extension, or at least 60 days with the option to extend).
I'm so clueless with all of this and I'm trying to gather info from as many sources as I can. TIA

Wells held my first mortgage. I liked them very much. Right now I'm working with Wells on an investment property and so far they have been very competitive and very willing to work with us.

It's a half point discount on any points that you would pay. Our soon to be mortgage is through them, and we are using this discount (our interest rate will be 6.375 and we are paying an eighth of a point for that, without points we were offered 6.5%) Good luck!
