I don't have an answer, but where do you have an interview?

I am pretty sure that you will have to resign but you will have five years to recind your resignation.

At least that's what my UFT chapter leader told a friend of mine who moved to be with her FH in Seattle. They plan on coming back in the next few years.

However, if you recind that doesn't mean you will get the exact same position in the same school again.

I believe Ivy is correct however recinding your resignation does not include you going back to your current building, ti just allows you back into the NYC system. A lot of the rules have changes over the last 8 years I have been in the system because principals now have the right to interview and hire. I could ask further but I believe that return to buliding rights are a year and a day. One of our teachers came back and had to re-interview, they were gone to a school on the island 3 years (this was last year). I will ask my friend who is a chapter leader and double check though :)

I know what you mean. It is scary because things are done a little differently on the island and every district is different. My FMIL got a job out here a few years ago and although she had one year where it was a possibility, she stayed and has been really happy. What will you be teaching?? I will call my rep this morning and ask her.
