Hey, girls. Any of you guys work over the summer? I normally don't, but with the wedding and house buying plans, I HAVE to. I have no idea where to look for a job. I REALLY would love to avoid working in a camp, but all suggestions would be appreciated! So much for the beach this summer!

Re: Teachers- summer jobs
I do the whole summer camp thing, but can definitely see how that isn't for everyone.
Maybe a job at a learning center...Sylvan, Huntington, etc. Or there is always summer school

def try to get a teaching job in your district.. u cn't beat the per session rates.. even if udont get hired, and u take job somewhere else, sign up to sub summer school.. the sub money at 45 an hour or so will still be better than anything else u do..
i normally dont' work but im going to this year.. i'd like the extra spending money since we're moving aft the baby is born, and if i do the entire 5 weeks i'll get extra days in my sick bank..

I wish I could work. I may sub for the Wilson program...but my wedding is 7-20 and we leave for our honey moon 7-27 and return 8-10...so timing is just not there..I actually was told by my supervisor to now worry about it and enjoy my wedding...I though that was soo nice..

I teach summer school. Not for kids who failed but for kids who need extra help. I get paid 50 an hour for 4 hours a day and its only a month long. Pays for the mortgage over the summer. then I have most of august off.

Getting married this summer and a honeymoon is not making it easy for me to really keep a summer job. I was thinking about tutoring Wilson but not sure if it would really work with a long honeymoon.

Re: Teachers- summer jobs
The passed 3 years I have done cheerleading camp over the summer but this summer I will not be working since the wedding and honeymoon take up most of July. Maybe I will look for something small for the month of August.
I might just try and take some inservice credits in August so I can hit my Masters plus 30 by september

Re: Teachers- summer jobs
YES!!! I work the entire summer ( well its a 6 week summer program).. I do private contract work ( special education in the home or in a school that doesnt faciliate SP. Ed..) I work with children usually with Autism and other disabilities.. So my children have a 12 month program.. But When I didnt do that I always worked at a summer camp that is for children with disabilities through the town..
