I'd also put up flyers in front of local schools, of if you can inside (most principals will allow you to).

Re: Teachers (tutoring)
another way is to let your colleagues know that you tutor. thats how i got many of my jobs. many parents will ask a teacher for a tutor recommendation and they recommend me. As long as the child is not in my class, I can tutor them (conflict of interest) believe me the word spreads fast when a teacher tutors!

Re: Teachers (tutoring)
I used to do it through the honor society in school and we were only allowed to ask for $10/hr. I continued to get phone calls after graduating though and I upped my rates.

Re: Teachers (tutoring)
I have never had to put an ad in the paper. I have just gotten referrals.
I only have two students though right now so if you want more, I would def place an ad.
Right now I charge $75 an hour to tutor Secondary Math.

Re: Teachers (tutoring)
I charge $45 an hour because i know most of the parents. I could get more but I get a lot of referrals because of the price.
