I have completed all the coursework and submitted it to BOCES. I've been waiting for months!

Re: Teaching....
Once all your paper work is in, you for sure should start subbing! I know in the NYCBOE you make about 150 a day.. Get in with a school that you likes you and you like and you could be called whenever they have an absence. Its a start, and a good way to get your foot in the door. GOOD LUCK!

Re: Teaching....
You should make sure you go onto TEACH - they review your online application through a computer system. I had this problem - they said I hadn't been teaching long enough nor did I have a mentor. I called them today - fixed it right up, and I'll be getting my cert. in two weeks.
Now is certainly not the time to be going into education or being an educator. My school will have potential cuts - 2 teachers - and I'm low man since I was excessed last year from a LI district.
Please keep your head up - FH was excessed as well (both of us would have been unemployed) however he was hired in August. It's round and scary, but there are so many people here who can relate.
I'm keeping my eyes and ears open for you xoxo

Re: Teaching....
I've been certified for 2 1/2 years. i've been subbing this whole time. I'm very very close to giving up on my ultimate dream.... However, i'm 28 and I need a career soon. it's unfortunate!
