Hi there, does anyone have any info re: available teaching positions in NYC, the boroughs, the island or Westchester? Public or private school is fine, early childhood or elementary.....I, like some of the other girls am starting to stress.....
Any help would be greatly appreciated ladies.
I have 1 class left to finish my Masters in Early Childhood and passed all my Certification tests.
There is a teaching assistant position I know of in an elementary school district in Nassau. You need to have teacher cert. for it. Otherwise, I know of an elementary music, high school special ed., and high school science TA position (various Nassau districts). FM me if you are interested.

I think some districts post openings on their websites. I'd pick some districts and just google them to find their sites.
As for NYC, I know Region 1 (the Bronx, which is where I work) has a site.
If they don't specifically post openings (though I am sure there are many- my school has opened in Sept. with vacancies, and it's been one of the better schools in the district) there will be a number for personnel. Good luck- I don't know about LI, but I am sure you will be able to get something in NYC.

You girls are the best. :) I'll definitely take your advice....just getting frustrated calling and checking every imaginable newspaper and such.

Don't worry becuase it wasn't until this week last year that I got my job. I got a ton of other phone calls the same time and some other offers. I think they just wait till the last minute sometimes Hang in there!

the Dept of Education posts job openings for all of the new Regions... go to www.nycboe.net (it will re-direct you to a new site I believe)... but you can check job openings there..

I left my school in the Bronx and I know 3 or 4 other teachers whom have left as well. It is k-4. If you are interested I can probably give you my principals number and you can call and ask if there are any positions open. You have nothing to lose. FM me if you would like.
