Telephone: Local & Long Distance?

As a bride-to-be who still lives at home I need some help ... I'm asking all the BTDT ladies/gents ... HOW DO YOU CHOOSE A PHONE PLAN FOR THE HOME?

FH & I are clueless!

Thanks in Advance!

We went with the Verizon Freedom Plan because I needed a plan that gave me unlimited local calls (since we are living in Bklyn and my family lives there) but also unlimited regional calls (since FI's family lives in FI).

So is regional is the same as long distance? I'm confused.

I think regional is for the tri-state area, but I might be wrong lol I dont have long distance at home, we use our cell phone to call long distance...

we went with AT&T local plan. It included our parents and our local friends. And we figured out of state we would just use our cells b/c its free.
But we are now considering switching to Optimum Voice. So we will see.

When picking, we went with AT&T because that is what both our families had and liked. When you choose a plan you have to look at what you want to pay per month and how you call the most!

Oh good to know. Our family is in NYC, Long Island, NJ, PA, CT and Florida.

I have to do some more research. Thanks ladies!

I have MCI Neighborhood - all calls for one monthly fee. But I also get a $25/month employee credit ...
