Another Direct TV here, I love it....

We used to have direct tv - don't you find that it gets shaky in storms or windy/rainy weather? That was the only thing that irritated me.

IO CABLE HERE.. i hate cablevision for the price, but i must say that i love the service.. the on demand is the best .. i can rent ppv anytime i want, i do not have to wait for it to start ( and there are LOTS of titles to choose from) and i can stop rewind fast foward, pause, and i get it for 24 hours..

I like the HBO on demand too, because if i miss SATC i can watch it whenever i want, not when hbo replays it.

also it makes my optimum online cheaper..

jcndd.... our direct tv rarely even goes out.....

but when im at fiances house with IO sooooooo many times it gets an error on its own and the screen freezes or goes blank,

plus when my cheap mom was going to switch to IO to save money$5 off if you have optimum, dirrect tv gave her another incentive to stay

there are also fifty pay per views on Direct and you dont have to wait for them to start, some say no longer available and then when u go up to the next channel, you can order it right then and there

So are IO and Direct TV pretty much the only 2 choices? I think IO is like 65 per month for the silver package and direct TV is a little less. DTV doesn't do any type of online service does it?

I think DTV has some kind of DSL line...

THERE is also the DISH network, my inlaws have that but they are not that thrilled and may switch to direct as well

I have Time Warner Cable...what I like about it better than my parents satelite (this is such a small thing though) is that when you are searching through the channels and go on a different channel than you are watching...the little screen goes blank...I like that cable keeps the same channel up...

FI has Direct TV at his house....we love it! It does seem to be sensitive to weather sometimes....but FI loves how it's managed online. Customer service is VERY helpful the few times we had a problem. Plus...only $25 to move it when we have 'our' home!! I am buying FI the Tivo receiver for his b-day since they sent us a coupon. Has anyone else gotten the coupons they send for various things??

we went from direct tv to IO when we moved last year. i hate IO it's slow and often freezes, or unable to display TV info...i miss my direct TV!!!!

ETS: however Driect Tv is very expensive to have installed...they onyl give you two recievers and that stinks if you have a large house..it runs through the phone lines too so sometimes you have to buy these remote phone things...alot of work and $$$$$ esp. if DH isn't handy..my DH is handy and we still had to pay to be installed in old apartment!!!

Re: Television - Cable / IO / Satellite???

The display feature on DirectTV is such a huge good thing. Dont know if cable has that now but when we first switched it was like a whole new world. I cant watch tv without it now.

When there is a very heavy storm cloud right over our house, the reception does go out. Its usually about 5 minutes. On very rare occassions (like 2x in 5 years) has it been longer than that. Can be a little inconvienent but missing 5 minutes every few months is worth the other good stuff that comes with satellite.
